Executive Design Leadership across industries…

Reid is an innovation and design leader. His collaborative and inclusive style ensure the effectiveness of his leadership vision and is evident in the success of his products, teams and workshops. His expertise spans military weapons platforms to cyber-visualization to consumer products – all with a specific and deep focus on understanding the needs of the user and blending the greater business and operational context. 

Most recently Reid re-established the Design practices at Ria / XE as Global Director of Design and UX. He re-organized, hired more than 11 design and analytics professionals while successfully re-factoring and redesigning two websites and two mobile apps responsible for more than $25 million in revenue.

Over the last 8 years, Reid has also focused on Design Thinking and Lean Innovation – guiding and training teams and companies on innovation practices, instilling a culture of human-centered design and pragmatic ways of improving products and services. Reid has extensive design and innovation management experience. He led the user experience teams at industry-leading companies: XE, Ria, Travelport, Tendril, and Jeppesen/Boeing.

Reid’s design experience covers the gamut of user interfaces and modalities including consumer products, websites, applications, embedded software, voice recognition and synthesis systems, communication and experience designs as well as aircraft cockpit hardware/controls. Along with his strong design skills are equally deep user research and ethnography expertise.

While working for defense industry leaders Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and Bell Helicopter-Textron, Reid designed fully immersive environments for combat aircraft including glass cockpits, helmet mounted displays and three-dimensional audio systems. Reid contributed to research design work for the V-22 Osprey, the AH-1W SuperCobra, Boeing UCAV and others and his designs are currently flying on platforms such as the AH-64D Longbow Apache and OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. 

Reid received a B.S.A.E. in Engineering from Arizona State University, majoring in Human Factors, as well a B.A. in English/writing from Denison University. Reid has published and presented papers addressing experience design, user testing methodologies and cockpit design innovations.

Reid is BCS Agile certified, NPS2.0 certified and holds two patents in the Smart Energy space.
